Maritime freight consist of two types: container freight and conventional freight.
We usually work with the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam in the north and sometimes with the port of Marseille in the south. We do however occasionally work with the ports of Hamburg, Le Havre or certain Italian ports; this depends on the client's requirements or the regulations of the letter of credit. In every port our agents follow the loading and report the movements to us for follow-up.
As far as the containers are concerned, being a member of the “Groupement Fer of Swiss forwarders”, we are able to transport containers by rail at a very advantageous price to and from the seaports. Whether it concerns an isolated conveyance called LCL (less than container load) or a full container called FCL (full container load), over the years containers have become the ideal transport unit.
LCL dispatches are grouped at the maritime ports or in grouping stations to fill the containers. In Switzerland we also have container depots at our disposal. These empty containers are stored there by the maritime companies to allow speedy availability for the loaders and as such avoid payment of long distances for empty containers.
We can advise you on your choice of maritime company, the ideal port for delivery within the required time and the ship which will transport your container. We also give advice about the appropriate packaging required as certain countries like Australia, have very strict regulations on this point.
